ALERT: Ask Gov. Little to Protect Children from Library Smut!
The Children's School and Library Protection Act (H314) would create statewide policy that prohibits schools and libraries from distributing pornographic materials to minor children.
The bill does not ban any books. Instead, it would simply require schools and libraries to take reasonable steps to restrict children's access to obscene materials as defined by the U.S. Supreme Court.
An investigation recently conducted by Idaho Family Policy Center found that more than fifty-five public schools and/or libraries in nearly thirty cities across the state are currently making pornographic books available to children. This is a widespread problem that must be addressed.
