Fund Spina Bifida Programs & Services in 2022
As the only affiliate chapter of the Spina Bifida Association in New York State (NYS), SBANENY recognized many years ago that we needed to be inclusive of all individuals impacted by Spina Bifida in our programs and services. Previously receiving no public funding and employing various efforts to reduce expenses and increase revenue, SBANENY was being outpaced by the growing requests for support and services. In 2017, SBANENY and fellow advocates began requesting to be included in the NYS budget as a recurring line item to effectively serve consumers statewide. Starting in 2020, SBANENY was finally included in the budget. Nearly 2 years later, SBANENY is just now beginning to work with NYS to receive the allotted funding to support our programs and services.
We need your advocacy to let NYS know that people with Spina Bifida matter! We are requesting NYS keep SBANENY in the budget in 2022 at $100,000 to provide programs and services that positively impact individuals, families, and providers impacted by Spina Bifida and expand our reach and impact across NYS. Please take action and share as we continue to pursue our mission to build a better and brighter future for all those impacted by Spina Bifida!
