President Biden's nominee to head up the Department of Health and Human Services, Xavier Becerra, is a radical activist lawyer with no medical or health policy background. At a time during a global pandemic, President Biden is playing politics.
At Patriot Voices, we have always advocated that presidents should be granted wide latitude in making their choices for the men and women who will serve in cabinet positions. However, in some circumstances, we believe it is imperative that we join together and let the Senate know that a particular nominee must not be confirmed. Mr. Becerra, California's attorney general, is one such extreme case.
Mr. Becerra has spent his legal career advocating for the most extreme policies, including a broad expansion of abortion. As the attorney general of one of the most liberal states in the union, Mr. Becerra took it upon himself to file lawsuits to overturn pro-life laws in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Ohio. He has advocated for late-term abortion, and we can be confident that, if he were to serve as secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, he would wildly expand abortion.
