New jobs and nearly $24 million in new funding for county services like firefighters and law enforcement are just two examples of how Surry and Isle of Wight counties and their residents will benefit from the Cavalier Solar Project. Residents of the county are supporting the project for some many different reasons, the prospect of keeping taxes low, local economic growth, jobs, and reliable renewable energy. Right now, the Board of Supervisors in Surry and Isle of Wight are considering the project’s approval and will hold a vote soon.

The Cavalier Solar Project is a low impact, solar farm project that will bring millions of dollars in new revenue, job opportunities and will also provide 100% clean energy generated right here in Surry and Isle of Wight Counties.

- The project will generate over $16MM in Surry County and around $5-6MM in new revenue to Isle of Wight County without increasing any county costs, school enrollment, or placing demand on local infrastructure.
- The project will create close to 800 construction jobs in Surry and Isle of Wight counties combined.
- The project will not receive any local tax subsides.
- The project's tax revenue can fund Surry and Isle of Wight County Schools, law enforcement, firefighters, and other essential county services.
- Private individuals own all the land. No public land will be used or taken away from the public or hunters. The landowners are working in partnership with the developer, and after 35 years, AES will remove the panels and related equipment and restore the site.
