Join the National Black Justice Coalition in telling senators to support the Equality Act
The Equality Act, a bill that demonstrates that we, as a country, believe in freedom and equal access to opportunity, just passed the U.S. House of Representatives and is headed to the U.S. Senate.
This major win brings us two moves away from modernizing our civil rights laws to include discrimination protections in public spaces, services, and businesses that are supposed to be open to all in today’s context like ride sharing apps, taxpayer funded programs like schools, police departments, and foster care, while adding women and LGBTQ+ people to existing laws.
Black people from across the country will be able to fight for and win justice when wronged as a result of the Equality Act becoming law. This is probably why a small, but very vocal number of opponents are flooding Senate offices with calls and lies trying to stop the Equality Act from becoming law. We need 60 votes to get the bill to President Biden’s desk to sign into law, and our Senators need to hear from supporters right now!
We are closer than ever to ensuring that ALL Black people are protected under our civil rights laws no matter where we live, who we are, or where we go, but only if we all do our part to make sure our Senators hear from us!
Will you contact your Senator NOW and urge them to vote YES on the Equality Act? You can click the link to the right to take action right away.
