Support Historic Funding for America's Forests

Wildfires in the United States are more deadly and destructive than ever before. They have destroyed twice as much forestland in the last several decades than in previous ones. As a result, massive mudslides are occurring more frequently, often blocking major thoroughfares that help keep our economy running. Forests are not healthy enough to absorb as much carbon as they potentially could. Even our oldest living trees are at risk. In our cities, a lack of tree cover and shade has life or death consequences as heat death continue climbing, already at 12,000 annually today with potential to reach more than 100,000 annually this century.

This is an epic crisis. But there is an epic solution — $30 billion in federal funding to save existing forests and bring degraded and destroyed forests back to life. This includes an unprecedented $2.5 billion to advance Tree Equity by protecting and expanding urban tree canopy for environmental justice, climate justice and health equity. Congressional leaders are set to vote imminently on the Build Back Better Act, also known as the budget reconciliation bill, which contains never-before-seen investments in forest-climate solutions.

Ask your Congressional leaders to make history by securing this transformational funding for our forests.
