As you know, this bill will provide nearly $1.2 trillion in funding for the nation’s infrastructure. Approximately $550 billion of the total is new funding, of which almost $51 billion is allocated to drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure funding. The funding levels and the policy provisions in the bill will tremendously benefit the nation’s water infrastructure.
The money included to support the Clean Water and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund programs is vital and necessary, as is the additional money for the Water Infrastructure and Finance Innovation Act (WIFIA), and money dedicated to the US EPA Sewer Overflow and Stormwater Reuse Municipal Grant Program. In addition, the bill includes other programs that will help low-income ratepayers, climate change resilience, energy efficiency and recovery, and rural and financially disadvantaged communities.
