Rhode Island Alert: "Assault Weapons" Ban Introduced Along With Magazine Capacity Restrictions

If you are a Rhode Islander, be advised that gun control is on the legislative menu in 2022.  In fact, two major pieces of anti-gun legislation have been introduced that will impact Rhode Island residents directly.  House Bill 6614 would make it a felony for an individual to possess any semi-automatic firearm magazine which is capable of holding more than ten rounds of ammunition. As if HB 6614 wasn't bad enough, House Bill 6615 would ban the possession, sale, and transfer of assault weapons in Rhode Island. What if you already have an "assault weapon"?  Surprise, pre-owned weapons would need to be registered in order to be kept.  Interestingly, both of these tyrannical bills were introduced by the same petrified legislator, Representative Justine Caldwell (D-30).

No matter how scared Rep. Caldwell may be of "assault weapons" and magazines holding 10+ rounds of ammunition, it does not give her the right to trample on individual liberties in the process. So we at FPC are asking the residents of Rhode Island to stand up and take action against these legislative monstrosities. To write your specific state legislators in opposition to these bills, please utilize FPC's constituent outreach tool that's available on this page. FPC has drafted a sample email that you are encouraged to review, edit, and personalize prior to sending it off to your lawmakers' inboxes.  Now is the time to stand up against this radical agenda, before more legislators like Rep. Caldwell feel emboldened.  Together let's help defeat both of these bills for the good of Rhode Island!
