The Biden administration’s disdain for hydrocarbon fuels and the failure to maintain America’s energy independence has placed the U.S. in a dire situation of being dependent on other nations for energy. Sky-high and rising costs of fuel are severely impacting farmers, landscapers, ranchers, and everyday citizens. We are impacted not only at the pump but at the dining room table, as supply costs and availability impact every aspect of our lives. Average gas prices in New Mexico on 3/8/22 were about $4/gallon and are continuing to rise.
The so-called “solution,” as reported at Fox Business, primarily depends on Americans being forced to buy Electric Vehicles (EV). There are many reasons this solution is ineffective, but the primary reasons are:
1. Electric Vehicle (EV) batteries rely on raw materials like cobalt and lithium which would necessitate greater reliance on countries like Russia and China for mining these materials.
2. An average EV is out of reach for many Americans with an average price of over $50,000.
