Family Resource Centers (FRCs) increase family stability to prevent children from entering the child welfare system, thereby strengthening the safety net for California’s most marginalized communities. Unfortunately, with no dedicated funding and costs increasing, our FRCs struggle each year to survive.
We are calling on California to prioritize child abuse prevention efforts through investing in FRCs. While we appreciate that the state is facing a budget deficit, the needs of the families we work with are only increasing, making our request more vital than ever.
And given our pre-existing ties embedded in the community, FRCs have an enhanced relevance as California seeks to increase Community Supporting and prepares for the Community Pathway needed to fully implement the federal Family First Prevention Services Act.
