Saying Thank You Is Part of Advocacy

On Sunday, July 17, 2022 Legislative leaders released a final version of the FY23 Budget. The total spending plan is $52.7B, including $23,377,000 for arts and culture through the Mass Cultural Council. This includes $22.5M for the Mass Cultural Council's grants and operations and $877,000 in earmarks for special projects. Read more about the full budget process on our website.

The $22.5M allocation for the Mass Cultural Council’s grants and operations is a $2.5M or 125% increase from FY22. It is the highest allocation for arts and culture spending since 1987. You can use our form to  thank your State Representative and State Senator for the increase.

The budget will now go to Governor Baker’s desk. He will have 10 days to sign, veto or line-item veto the budget. We want to make sure he retains the entire allocation for arts and culture in the FY23 Budget.

Take a moment to share your support with Governor Baker for increased investment in Massahcusetts’s arts and cultural sector.
