The Allentown City Council is Planning to Vote on a Set of Pro-Abortion Ordinances

The Allentown City Council is planning to vote on a set of Pro-Abortion City Ordinances that would encroach on the first amendment rights of pro-life citizens as well as dubiously disparage Pregnancy Health Organizations. Students for Life of America’s Campaign for Abortion Free Cities is mobilizing to oppose the passage of these ordinances.

If passed, these abortion ordinances have made four promises. The first is to unjustly impose a 15-foot buffer-zone regulation that would prevent sidewalk counselors from assisting women and families seeking prenatal care away from abortion facilities. Secondly, is to instruct city authorities to withhold their assistance from any out-of-state criminal abortion investigations without a court order, which could cause undue hardship to women who have already suffered harm at the hands of abortionists. Thirdly, is that Pregnancy Health Organizations' first amendment rights are violated when they are accused of engaging in "deceptive advertising" since they do not provide abortion services and instead educate women about the realities of the procedure. Additionally, if an abortion ban is passed in Pennsylvania, state law will be undermined by an order to the police department to "de-prioritize" implementation of the law.

Lastly, the Allentown Planned Parenthood was cited by the Pennsylvania Department of Health for violating the state requirement to test pregnant women for the Rh protein. In addition to not screening all patients, those who were screened were not prescribed the necessary treatment required for Rh-negative patients which endangers the health of the woman and child. This facility sells abortions up to 13 weeks, and the state of Pennsylvania allows abortions up to 24 weeks, by which point a preborn baby can feel pain and may be capable of surviving outside the womb.

We are calling on the Allentown City Council members to Vote NO on these dangerous pro-abortion ordinances.
