Stop legislators from raising New Mexico's gas prices unnecessarily!
HB 426 is known as the Clean Fuel Standard. In reality, it will do nothing for the environment and will instead force New Mexico motorists to pay 80 cents/gallon MORE for gasoline. The gas required by this bill will be full of ethanol and other “biofuels” that have a proven track record of destroying engines. Ethanol, in particular, requires large-scale corn farming and processing which requires pesticides and lots of land and water.
As if forcing unwanted and harmful “fuels” into our gas tanks isn’t bad enough, HB 426 ALSO sets up a “cap and trade” scheme that would likely require New Mexico to be tied to California for 'trade' of credits. “Cap and trade” is not a market mechanism; it is a harmful scheme of costly government mandates.
