SB 13 Turns NM Into a National Beacon for Abortion & Transgender Procedures

Senate Bill 13 is the companion bill to HB7. It offers protections for out-of-state providers and patients who come to New Mexico for abortions or gender-changing procedures that are illegal in their home state.

This bill would make our state an abortion and transgender beacon, not only to New Mexicans but to all Americans.

In addition, it produces many legal and constitutional concerns regarding separation of powers, vulnerability to frivolous lawsuits, and wasting of judicial resources. We also are highly concerned about the reality of medical standards of care being impossible to supply or obtain due to the nature of providers and patients alike coming in and out of the state.

This bill places politics before people and inserts politics into medical practice. Parents’ rights are still a serious concern as we not only have New Mexico’s parents being circumvented but now all parents across our nation will be affected. This bill protects a model of medicine that largely has no evidenced based practice to it.

Legislators will in effect be protecting a political ideal rather than actual people. Urge lawmakers to vote NO on SB 13 by speaking loud and clear that New Mexico families oppose this bill!
