Our current state lottery contributes nearly 70% of its revenue to our education system, while video slot machines would contribute only one-third of their revenue to the state. If we allow VLTs into Missouri, our schools, students, and teachers will all pay the price.
Illinois has become a haven for neighborhood gambling with more than 45,000 video slot machines in virtually every corner of the state. An average size casino has about 1,000 slot machines. That means Illinois has placed enough slot machines in communities throughout the state to equal 45 new casinos.
