Vote YES on SB745 as Amended without Changes!

Last Tuesday, March 28, the Senate Health and Welfare Committee voted overwhelmingly to send Senate Bill 745 (as amended by the House) to the full Senate for the final vote needed before sending the legislation to the Governor’s desk.

During the Senate Health and Welfare Committee there were 3 amendments presented that would have significantly weakened Tennessee’s current law. Fortunately, none of the amendments were adopted or even received a second motion.

But, we have to stay alert.

It was clear that some were not satisfied. The sponsor of the amendments received praise from other members who indicated that given another time and circumstance they would have voted for adding exceptions that would remove protections from some unborn children and provided cover for physicians who violate the law and abort children in Tennessee.

Amendments can still be added while on the Senate Floor.

SB745 with it's current language, will allow the Human Life Protection Act to continue to save lives in Tennessee, but we cannot allow last minute amendments!

Thank you to all who have followed this process through all of these twists and changes. You have, and continue to make, the difference.

The full Senate Floor vote is scheduled for Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. CST. Please contact our Senators and ask that they continue to lead the stand for LIFE in our state and to reject any eleventh hour changes. Lives depend on them to be courageous.
