Please contact the House Committee on Public Education and ask them to Support HB 4340 and HB 619 which establish parental choice programs and OPPOSE HJR 182 which opens the door to broad regulation of private schools and threatens to jeopardize private school autonomy and religious liberty.
As the primary educators of their children, parents have a right and responsibility to determine the best educational environment for their children. The bishops support parental choice programs, especially for the economically disadvantaged and special needs students, to improve educational options for all families. Also, while supporting accountability through accreditation and norm reference testing, there must be protections for the autonomy and religious liberty of private schools.
