Save the Seats!
The House passed HB 1 without the $52 million that was originally in the state budget to save 4,000 of the 16,000 child care seats we are losing as the result of expiring federal funds. Now the bill goes to the Senate Finance Committee for its consideration.
We need all Coalition members to assist us in making the case for funding early care and education, which prepares our youngest learners for kindergarten and empowers working parents to be productive in the economy. If Louisiana doesn’t invest in early care and education NOW we will miss out on over $12 billion in economic activity over the next 10 years. Saving the seats is the right choice for Louisiana, and we appreciate all of your efforts on behalf of Louisiana’s youngest learners!
