New Hampshire Defend The Guard- HB 229

Take action and tell the New Hampshire State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs Committee to pass HB229  "Defend The Guard."

HB229 requires a declaration of war from Congress before New Hampshire National Guard troops are called into federal service for combat in foreign nations. This simple piece of legislation supports the most crucial and somber power identified in the U.S. Constitution....that Congress has the authority to declare war.

For 80 years, presidents of both parties have committed American lives and treasure to endless and undeclared wars. Congress has abdicated their power and authority...the power and authority that 'we the people' grant to them. They have allowed presidents to send our sons and daughters to fight in faraway lands with no definition of victory and no clear mission.

The Constitution was written in such a way that this was not supposed to happen. The Founding Fathers labored over the question of war and peace more than any other enumerated power they scripted in the Constituion.

The New Hamshire State-Federal Relations and Veterans Affairs Committee has the bill now. There will be a committe work session soon. The committee will hear from the primary bill sponsor and concerned Granite State citizens and veterans who can no longer watch this president or any other single individual committ the American military and New Hampshire sons and daughters serving the NH National Guard to another endless and undeclared war. We must encourage the committee members to vote and pass the Defend The Guard bill out of committee.

Take action now! Sign the petition. Send an email to the committee members. Make a brief phone call expressing your support. Share this effort on social media.

Veterans overwhelmingly support this principle as indicated by the recent statement by the American Legion National Commander Vincent "Jim" Troiola, "Our nation’s founders made clear that declaration of war is the solemn and sole responsibility of the U.S. Congress. The American Legion calls on Congress to once again follow the text of Article I, Section 8, Clause 11, of the U.S. Constitution.”

The New Hampshire legislature has the opportunity to pass a bill that would require congress to reclaim their authority which they have abdicated for over 80 years.

If you feel compelled, please attend the hearing and offer your testimony in support of the bill.

America is on the verge of WWIII with a commander-in-chief determined to march us headlong into a war that is not ours to fight.

Take action...any action.

Support Defend The Guard HB229.

If we must fight a war, then we must fight it with the full weight of support of the people represented by a vote and declaration of war in congress.
