Urge Congress to make Medicare telehealth flexibilities permanent

Support the Creating Opportunities Now for Necessary and Effective Care Technologies (CONNECT) for Health Act (H.R. 4189/S. 2016)

Patients living in rural communities or those with mobility issues could lose an important access point to their health care professionals if telehealth isn’t made permanent. Telehealth flexibility—first introduced during the pandemic—will expire in 2024 for people with Medicare unless Congress steps in.

The CONNECT for Health Act would expand telehealth coverage for Medicare beneficiaries by:

  • Permanently removing geographic requirements for telehealth services, allowing providers to connect with patients from any location in the country
  • Expands the definition of originating sites to include a patient’s home and other clinically appropriate sites
  • Expands the eligibility for different healthcare providers to furnish telehealth services
  • Permanently allows Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) to furnish telehealth services
  • Remove unnecessary in-person visit requirements for telemental health services
  • Supports the study of telehealth by CMS and the dissemination of telehealth data
