Make Your Voice Heard: Support Bill C-368

We, the undersigned citizens of Canada draw the attention of the House to the following:

WHEREAS, in 2008 the Government introduced Bill C-51 to impose what are now the therapeutic product provisions in the Food and Drugs Act upon all drugs, including natural health products (the “Therapeutic Product Provisions”). The Citizens of Canada rebelled against the application of the Therapeutic Product Provisions to natural health products and Bill C-51was stopped.

WHEREAS in 2014 the provisions of Bill C-51 returned in Vanessa’s Law. Vanessa’s Law was written so that natural health products were exempted from the Therapeutic Product Provisions. The Government message in 2012 was that natural health products were exempted because it was inappropriate to apply the Therapeutic Product Provisions to natural health products.

WHEREAS in 2023 the Government hid in the Budget Implementation Act, 2023, No. 1 (formerly Bill C-47) provisions that apply the Therapeutic Products Provisions to natural health products (sections 500-504). Because this was hidden in a budget bill citizens did not notice and had no opportunity to voice their opposition.

WHEREAS Canadians are opposed to the application of the Therapeutic Product Provisions to natural health products.

THEREFORE, your petitioners call upon Parliament to repeal and to undo the effect of sections 500-504 of the Budget Implementation Act, 2023, No. 1 by enacting Bill C-368.
