Urge Your Representative to Support Legislation Preventing the Pending Medicare Cut

In November, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the Calendar Year 2024 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule final rule that will cut physician payment by 3.4% effective January 1, 2024. These cuts come amidst a 4.6% projected increase in medical practice expenses due to inflation. This means that physicians are facing a “real cut” of 8.0% to Medicare payment in 2024. Congress can halt these cuts by passing the Preserving Seniors’ Access to Physicians Act of 2023 (H.R. 6683), before the end of the year, but they need to hear from you about how these cuts will hurt physician practices and significantly undermine patient access for Medicare beneficiaries.

On December 7, Representatives Greg Murphy, MD (R-NC), Danny Davis (D-IL), Brad Wenstrup, MD (R-OH), Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), Larry Bucshon, MD (R-IN), and Michael Burgess, MD (R-TX) introduced the Preserving Seniors’ Access to Physicians Act of 2023, which would eliminate the 3.4% Medicare cut for physicians that goes into effect on January 1.

With January less than a month away, we need your help to get as many bill co-sponsors as possible. Strong bipartisan support of H.R. 6683 will put pressure on Congressional leadership to take action and advance this legislation before the pending Medicare payment cuts go into effect next year.

Contact your Representative today and urge them to co-sponsor the Preserving Seniors’ Access to Physicians Act of 2023.
