Protect our Constitution with an amendment to rein in Emergency Powers!
For more than three years, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham forced New Mexico into a state of emergency that gave her special powers over our schools, businesses, and way of life.
But a new bill in this year’s legislature, HJR 8 Declarations of Emergency, would revise New Mexico’s emergency power laws to bring accountability and balance of powers back to our state during times of crisis.
The bill would require that any governor must consult with the legislature after an emergency order was issued depending on the length of time and severity of restrictions. The legislature would have the power to terminate the state of emergency if they saw fit.
We can restore the balance of powers in our state if EVERYONE takes action today! Complete the form provided to tell New Mexico, lawmakers, to SUPPORT the HJR Declaration of Emergency.
