Last week, the House of Representatives passed HB 5005: An Act Expanding Paid Sick Days in the State. The bill would require ALL businesses to provide up to 40 hours of paid sick leave phased in over the next few years. While the bill title states “paid sick days”, the bill prohibits any employer from requesting documentation to ensure employees are using the time off for a qualified reason making this simply a mandatory paid time off bill.
