Government Regulatory Overreach Stifles New Mexicans!
The NM Environmental Board (NMED) is attempting to expand staffing and its budget by levying heavy taxes on companies trying to do business in New Mexico. These increased fees get passed on to New Mexicans who are already being crushed by inflation.
The Air Quality Bureau intends to push through a 500% fee increase on the backs of the extractive industries. The intent is to expand its entire department without legislative oversight or any substantive reason to justify the need for any of this.
Our system is set up so that legislators, not unelected members of a board, determine adequate funding for state agencies like NMED. Public comments are open for a short time so it's important New Mexicans who will be impacted by increased costs to businesses make their voice heard.
Use the form to the right to quickly send an email to YOUR state Senator and Representative asking them to stop this unprecedented government expansion.
