Become a California School Library Advocate

Access to expertly staffed libraries with current, relevant, and diverse collections is an equity issue in California. California is 50th in the U.S. with 9,116 students to every 1 teacher librarian (SLIDE).

Without access to credentialed teacher librarians,  children in your community will not have the expert information literacy instruction they need to succeed in the job market, higher education, and as active participants of their communities.

Without credentialed teacher librarians, experts in curating collections that include a variety of points of view and impartial and unbiased information, children miss the opportunity to become independent thinkers and capable users of information in the job marketplace and in making personal and civic decisions for their families and communities.

Without qualified library support staff and teacher librarians, your children miss out on access to spaces to practice the joy of independent inquiry, reliable and relevant information access, and safe spaces where they can nurture their own well-being during stressful times.

Join with us to ensure that all California students have access to school library books and services.
