Protect Survivors of Violence
Tell Governor Newsom and the California Legislature to invest $176 million every year for five years so services for sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, and child abuse survivors can continue.
Due to ongoing federal instability, nearly 816,000 survivors of violence across California are at risk of losing access to essential services that save their lives and support their healing. California leadership must step up and ensure that survivors have a crisis line to call, a safe place to sleep at night, counseling to address trauma, services to navigate complex legal systems, and more.
We need Governor Newsom and the California Legislature to backfill federal Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) funds, which includes services for LGBTQ survivors of intimate partner violence. VOCA is at the center of California’s response to supporting survivors of violence, and these cuts will impact nearly 400 programs serving survivors of child abuse, elder abuse, human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, and more. Take action now and make your support for VOCA funding heard by contacting Governor Newsom and the California Legislature.
