Trans Young People Deserve Safety and Care
The Trump Administration is not finished harming the trans community. After issuing a directive banning gender-affirming care for transgender youth under the age of 19, the Administration has now released a new executive order, this time banning "gender ideology" in schools.
Both of these orders attempt to defund medical and educational institutions, like hospitals, community clinics, and schools, for any actions that affirm and acknowledge the existence of trans people, including:
- providing gender-affirming care
- referring people to gender-affirming care
- referring to people with the correct pronouns
- making sure trans and non-binary people have equal restroom access
Gender-affirming care has been shown to reduce suicidal ideation and attempts in transgender people, These new executive orders pose direct threats to our already vulnerable members of our community. The offense and scientifically inaccurate language in these orders further stigmatize our patients here at Center and pose direct threats to their well-being.
You can help fight back against these outrageous actions - send a message to Congress today telling them to act urgently to block the implementation of these executive orders today!
