Ask your representative to co-sponsor the Nuclear Energy Leadership Act

Dozens of U.S. advanced nuclear developers are working usher in a new era of clean energy prosperity with their designs, but designing and building nuclear reactors is hard. They could use some help from the US Government.

Enter the Nuclear Energy Leadership Act (NELA).  This piece of legislation helps catalyze advanced nuclear development by:

  • Directing the Department of Energy (DOE) to develop a 10-year strategic plan for reactor innovation, development, and deployment.
  • Mandating the development of a versatile fast test reactor, to help companies qualify materials.
  • Creating a pilot program for the federal government to enter into power purchasing agreements for nuclear energy
  • Developing future supplies of high-assay low-enriched uranium (needed for several advanced nuclear designs)
  • Reauthorizing funding for the Integrated University Program to fund more nuclear engineering scholarships since they are vital to the success of all of this!

So what are you waiting for-- ask your Representative to co-sponsor NELA!
