We Deserve Clean and Safe Air on Airplanes

APFA Call to Action!

Urge Congress to support clean & safe air for passengers and crewmembers! Send this letter now!

Please consider co-sponsoring the bipartisan Cabin Air Safety Act of 2023 (H.R. 1293 and S. 615) and ensuring it is included in the 2024 FAA Reauthorization Bill. The FAA recognizes that toxic fumes jeopardize flight safety, but has no process to collect reports from crewmembers and no procedures to investigate such incidents. This means that the true extent of toxic fume contamination remains largely unknown.

Fume events cause lightheadedness, dizziness, nausea, lack of cognitive function, among numerous other symptoms. APFA members have been hospitalized and have suffered chronic and permanent neurological damage as a result. Additionally, medical bills and the cost of not being able to work are tremendously burdensome.

APFA, representing the 27,000 American Airlines Flight Attendants, receives reports of smoke/odor/fumes on our airline every day. Flight Attendants are diagnosed with cancer at higher rates than the general public. It's time to make cabin air safe for all.

We can - and we must - prevent toxic fumes from entering cabin air. Neither passengers nor crewmembers should ever have to question the air we breathe. I urge you to co-sponsor the bipartisan Cabin Air Safety Act of 2023 (H.R. 1293 and S. 615 ) introduced by Rep. Garamendi, Rep. Fitzpatrick, Sen. Blumenthal, and Sen. Markey. We need to pass this legislation through the 2024 FAA Reauthorization Bill. Thank you for supporting the health and safety of Flight Attendants and passengers.
