Help Us Protect Fair Funding for Virtual Education!

Students across Indiana need your voice today.

Thousands of families have turned to virtual charter schools for a learning environment that works best for their student. These schools have been a lifeline to families seeking an alternative to traditional public schools.

Right now, however, the legislature is considering a bill with a hastily added amendment that punishes virtual charter schools in an unprecedented and unnecessary manner.

House Bill 1204 includes langauge requiring students of virtual charter schools – and ONLY virtual charter schools – to be withdrawn from school if they fail to participate in a statewide assessment. In addition, they are not allowed to reenroll in any virtual charter school.

Additionally, this amendment threatens all funding for virtual education if students do not participate in testing or meet minimum requirements for educational activity. This is another punitive policy that affects students with special needs or those who are credit-deficient -- generally our most vulnerable students in Indiana.

This legislation is unfair and inequitable. It must not pass. Please complete the form to engage key legislators on this issue - ask them to  protect virtual education funding and the students across Indiana who rely on this educational option.
