Save Lives with Vaccines & Immunizations

UPDATE: Congress replenished Gavi in 2020, meaning it's safe for another five years! Thank you for advocating with us on this issue, but this action is no longer available. To find other ways to advocate for children around the world, go to https://www.worldvisionadvocacy.org/issues/

By improving access to new and under-used vaccines for millions of the most vulnerable children, Gavi is transforming the lives of families, helping boost the economies of low-income countries, and making the world healthier and safer for us all.

Gavi’s core partners are the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the World Bank, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Gavi works with governments, corporations, and NGOs and faith-based organizations like World Vision to accomplish its life-saving work. In fact, Gavi has contributed to the immunization of more than 760 million children and prevented nearly 13 million deaths since it began in 2000. These vaccines are also a great investment: for every $1 spent on immunization, $21 are saved in healthcare costs, lost wages and lost productivity due to illness.

But despite this incredible progress, every year, more than 19 million children in lower income countries still miss out on a full course of the most basic vaccines. In June 2020, global leaders will once again come together and pledge to support Gavi's work. The United States has consistently been a leader and must again pledge to continue supporting this cost-effective, efficient way to reduce mortality and especially end preventable maternal and child deaths. The Administration recommended full support for Gavi’s work in the President’s Budget Request, and now we need Congress to affirm that commitment.

Act today: Ask your legislators to strengthen health systems and combat the preventable deaths of children around the world by supporting Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance.
