New York State's economy must be reopened for business very quickly, or the livelihoods of millions of New Yorkers and their families will be destroyed.
The fact is our economy is barely hanging on by a thread -- and we must act immediately if we are going to save it!
Epidemiologists and scientists around the world are already dramatically revising their previous doomsday models downwards declaring that this disease will be far less deadly than previously thought. And President Trump has been very clear that we must get America back to work very quickly or the "cure" to this terrible disease maybe the worse option!
What is certain, however, is that if we continue to force businesses to remain closed, many of them will never reopen. Already, over a million New Yorkers have filed for unemployment benefits, making NY one of the hardest hit states in the nation!
Small businesses are shuttering by the thousands across our state, and families and retirees are watching their life's work and their retirement funds being destroyed in front of their eyes.
The fact is, we absolutely must prioritize the future of this state, the livelihoods of its families, the ability to provide for our own and the economic security of its workers.
Other Governors, like South Dakota’s Kristi Noem, are proving to the world that we don't need to sacrifice the financial wellbeing of our families in order to protect their physical wellbeing.
