On Tuesday, June 9th, the California State Senate's Appropriations Committee, chaired by Senator Anthony Portantino will have on their agenda the BizFed sponsored SB 1299 (Portantino) which is an ingenious piece of legislation that will give fiscal incentives in the form of sales tax rebates to local governments when they work with the building community to convert idle commercial retail sites to workforce housing projects.
This legislation is a much-needed solution to tackle our housing affordability and availability crisis.
