Send a message now to your Rep. telling them to support Joaquin Castro to be the next chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee

There is an incredible reckoning taking place in the U.S. and it isn’t just domestically. The defeat of hawkish Congressman Eliot Engel by a progressive primary challenger has created an opening for his spot as chair of the powerful House Foreign Affairs Committee. Democratic progressive Rep. Joaquin Castro of Texas is competing for the position on a progressive platform of:

  • Listening to Palestinian voices
  • Blocking Trump's weapons sales deal w/the UAE
  • Lifting sanctions on Iran and other U.S. adversaries
  • Redirecting U.S. military funding to domestic priorities
  • Addressing climate catastrophe because #WarIsNotGreen
  • Ending U.S. support for the Saudi-led war in Yemen
  • Reducing America’s military presence in the Middle East

Castro has stated, “I think too often Palestinian voices have been excluded. If the United States is going to be an arbiter of peace, it has to be willing to hear from the different sides, and in my estimation, we’ve not always done that” and recently Tweeted, "the Trump administration is trying to ram through a massive last-minute sale of advanced weapons — disregarding the UAE's disastrous human rights record in Yemen. Congress must assert its authority and reject this brazen attempt."
