Save Our Small Businesses Now!

Please support our efforts to encourage the Governor to reconsider his reopening plan for Riverside County.

This is a call-to-action for every supporter of business in Riverside County!

The backbone of our community is in crisis. Our small businesses provide vital services and jobs for the whole county, and they are struggling for their very survival due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our Governor, Gavin Newsom, has been responsive and acted responsibly, but unfortunately, there is not a one-size-fits-all solution for such a vast state as California is. Since the economy and climate in Riverside County is very different from the coastal regions, efforts that work for our neighbors to the west have not been effective for our local businesses, that are largely comprised of personal services, tourism, logistics, and agriculture. Our climate does not allow for services to be moved outdoors, for that poses yet another public health risk. Temperatures in the Coachella Valley frequently near 120 degrees, and although they might be 10-20 degrees lower in the westernmost part of the county, businesses do not thrive where people must seek their services outside in the extreme heat.

We need our working-class communities to be able to go back to work safely!

Sending this letter urges our Governor to consider the plan Riverside County’s health officials put together, allowing reopening.

This is a bipartisan plea with support from our local chambers of commerce, non-profits, and business owners. If we want our communities to continue on a prosperous path, we must urge the Governor to act now to show he has compassion for his residents’ livelihoods.
