INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE TRYING TO DENY COVERAGE FOR DIALYSIS PATIENTS –

Access to insurance coverage is critical for patients with End State Renal Disease, or kidney failure. Some patients who cannot afford the high premiums receive financial assistance from charitable organizations to help pay for insurance coverage.
But insurance companies are trying to deny coverage to dialysis patients. They are behind California Senate Bill 1156 (Leyva) that would effectively prohibit low-income patients from receiving charitable assistance to help with premiums.
SB 1156 is nothing more than a thinly-veiled attempt by health insurance companies to discriminate against very sick kidney disease patients – to kick them off private insurance plans and force these vulnerable individuals into government-sponsored plans like Medicare or Medi-Cal.
