SBAC Action Call: Ask Your State Senator to Bring Back an Important Small Business Tax Credit

The small business community is the engine that drives our economy.  For that reason, it is extremely disappointing that SB1232, which would reinstate the popular small business job creation tax credit, was not passed this spring. The small business community is strongly behind SB1232.  Reinstating the $2,500 tax credit for businesses with under fifty employees, who hire net new employees will spark economic growth in our state and help small businesses hire new employees.

SB1232 caps the amount of funds associated with the tax credit over the next seven years at $50,000,000.00  This is a very modest investment in the small business community spanning over a total of seven years, as compared with the state’s annual budgets.  Moreover, each tax credit should prove revenue neutral after an employee that is hired subject to the credit is employed for two years.  Passing SB1232 is good for small businesses and our economy.

Small businesses drive our economy and support local communities.  We must send a clear message to legislators that passing this legislation is important to the small business community.  It is our goal to pass this legislation during the fall session.  We must start by moving SB1232 out of the Senate.

Please use this simple tool to contact your State Senator today and ask them to sponsor and be a champion for the passage of SB1232.  We have drafted a message to legislators but please feel free to craft your own.

Thank you for supporting the small business community and advocating for this important legislation!
