As you may know, Governor Baker has submitted his budget and funded the Mentoring Matching Grants line item- the only state investment in mentoring programs- at $1,000,000. This is level-funding from FY21. It is a great place to start in the budget process and we are grateful that the line item was not cut, especially since the state has faced many tough financial decisions because of the pandemic.
We are asking members of the legislature to support the line item at $1.2 million. This modest increase will allow MMP to continue investing in mentoring programs and most importantly allow for more youth to be taken off waitlists and placed in supportive mentoring relationships.
