Urge Congress to Prioritize FY 2021 Investments in SEL

Please urge your Congressional Representative to prioritize investments in social-emotional learning (SEL).

In recognition of increased trauma from racism and the pandemic, state leaders are prioritizing SEL for their students. But they need funds to make their priorities a reality. SEL is needed now more than ever to support young people’s well-being, resilience, and academic engagement.

The FY2021 House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies bill approved by the House Appropriations Committee earlier this week would significantly support SEL. While it does not meet the funding levels that SEL proponents have advocated, it nevertheless exceeds last year’s SEL appropriation.

The bill now heads to the floor of the House of Representatives where every member of the House will be able to vote on this bill and support this investment in SEL. It’s critical that lawmakers hear from you now as they will be voting on this measure by the end of July.

Please fill out the Take Action! form to urge decision-makers to prioritize SEL funding. Consider adding your own thoughts on why advancing this funding will benefit you and your community.
