HB 1084 has moved out of committee and is heading closer to a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives. We need all NWHPBA Washington State members to call their two state representatives TODAY and urge them to OPPOSE this bill that will have a negative impact on your business and your customers.
What is the bill: HB 1084, otherwise known as the Building Decarbonization Act, puts policies in place that will lead to the inability for consumers to have natural gas or propane in their homes. This not only takes away energy choice, but also eliminates options that will help these customers heat their homes when electricity fails. And electricity will continue to fail. It cannot be the only option for homeowners.
Also, because of this bill, your business will no longer be able to install gas fireplaces in homes for those customers who can’t use wood.
The bill also challenges the wood and pellet part of your business because EPA non-attainment areas will not have gas options, thus burn bans will become more frequent.
