Stop the MASS Act (H.R. 4238) TODAY!

Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) is not only part of "The Squad" but she's also a huge proponent of gun control. This is why she has reintroduced H.R. 4238, erroneously known as the "Making America Safe and Secure Act of 2021" or by its acronym (MASS Act).  I say "reintroduced" because this bill failed miserably in the last legislative session.  It should fail again. But it hasn't hampered Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Sen. Ed Markey, both of Massachusetts, from supporting this legislation. They all believe what is good for Massachusetts is good for the country.

The MASS Act is an effort to provide federal grants to states that fall in line with the demands of the bill. Among the many items squeezed in the bill are requirements that individuals obtain a firearms license in order to purchase/lease/rent a firearm and/or ammunition.  The states receiving grant money must also provide standards and a process under which a family member of an individual who the family member fears is a danger to himself, herself, or others may petition for an extreme risk protection order (ERPO).

Rep. Pressley claims, “The MASS Act would create stricter guardrails around firearm purchasing to curb gun violence and save lives. I am proud to join my colleagues in advancing necessary and long overdue common-sense solutions.”  These "guardrails" are restrictions.
