Gov. Newsom - Sign the Following Bills!

We need your help to amplify the voice of the business community at this crucial moment in time. With the gubernatorial recall election now behind us, Governor Newsom is shifting his focus back to the state's most pressing issues. As of today, the 13 bills below — all built around sustainable and innovative problem-solving strategies — have been sent to the governor. Urge the Governor to SIGN the following bills today:

·       AB 14 ( Aguiar-Curry), which would help achieve digital equity for our residents and constituents to access online services (community information, public safety, telehealth, distance learning, etc.).

·       AB 61 (Gabriel), known as the Business Pandemic Relief, will provide regulatory relief for restaurants.

·       AB 537 (Quirk), which will ensure Californians will quickly benefit from high-speed internet projects by requiring local governments to approve or deny broadband permits within federal mandated timelines.

·       AB 928 (Berman), which will maximize the promised benefits of the ADT and transform the transfer process to be more student-centered by creating a singular lower-division general education pathway that meets the academic

requirements necessary for transfer admission into both the CSU and UC.

·       AB 1111 (Berman), which will create a common course numbering system at the California Community Colleges (CCC) and will reduce unnecessary confusion, ease advising, streamline transfer, and reduce excess credit accumulation, saving students both time and money.

·       AB 1261 (Burke), which will require CARB to develop & apply measurement & eval data recommended by State Auditor.

·       AB 1302 (Quirk), which ensures cannabis billboards are placed in places away from schools, parks, and playgrounds but also allow for this form of advertising to be used by this legal industry.

·       SB 4 (Gonzalez), which will help achieve digital equity for our residents and constituents to access online services (community information, public safety, telehealth, distance learning, etc.).

·       SB 44 (Allen), which will allow CEQA Streamlining for Transportation/Transit Projects.

·       SB 255 (Portantino), which will authorize an association of employers to offer a large group health care service plan contract/ large group health insurance policy consistent with ERISA if certain requirements are met.

·       SB 314 (Wiener), which will help CA’s restaurants, bars, & music venues recover economically from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic by creating more flexibility in how they can serve alcohol.

·       SB 378 (Gonzalez), which will require a local agency to allow micro trenching for the installation of underground fiber

·       SB 556 (Dodd), which requires a city, county and local publicly owned electric utilities to make available appropriate spaces and capacity on and in their street light poles, traffic signal poles, and supporting structures for broadband infrastructure
