It's Time To Rebuild the Commonwealth's Cultural Future

Last February, Senator Kennedy, Co-Chair of the Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development Committee recently filed S.2246 An Act to Rebuild the Commonwealth’s Cultural Future which would allocate a minimum of $200 million from federal recovery funding received by the Commonwealth for the arts and cultural community.

Next Tuesday, September 28, the Joint Commitee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development will hold a hearing on the bill.

We need to remind our legislators that this bill is vital to our arts and cultural community's recovery, stabilization and growth.

The necessary public health closures of arts and cultural spaces has been disastrous to the entire cultural sector.

We know the arts and cultural sector will be among the last to fully reopen and it will take audiences some time to return at pre-pandemic levels.

Without bold, comprehensive public funding to stabilize the cultural sector through full reopening, Massachusetts will not have the vibrant arts and cultural community we count on as an economic engine and community connector.

It's time to call on our State legislators to protect Massachusetts Cultural future and support S. 2246.  Take a moment to email and ask them to support the bill at next week's hearing.
