Tell the Planning and Zoning Commission to Support Solar!

The Linn County Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on Monday, November 29, on the Coggon Solar Project. The Commission has invited the public to submit comments, and they need to hear from you!

You can tell them that the Coggon Solar Project will:

  • Generate enough electricity to power 16,000 homes. The electricity will flow to the Linn County Rural Electric Cooperative and serve customers here.
  • Contribute $4.7 million in property taxes to Linn County over the life of the project. That’s revenue the county can use for infrastructure improvement, like highspeed internet access, school or road repairs, or to buy equipment for first responders.
  • Hire 300 workers during construction and attract new business to Iowa looking for access to renewable electricity.

County officials are hearing from opponents of solar, so let’s make sure they also hear the many positive benefits solar will provide for our communities.
