NFA Reforms Introduced in Congress

In the face of a divided Congress, some lawmakers have introduced legislation aimed at reforming the National Firearms Act (NFA).  H.R. 1758, sponsored by Rep. Tracey Mann (R-KS), seeks to remove short-barreled rifles from the NFA while H.R. 4312, sponsored by Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-SC), would remove short-barreled shotguns (SBSs). And H.R. 6817, sponsored by Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX), would remove "Any Other Weapons" (AOWs) from the NFA. Each of these bills would require existing registration information to be destroyed by the ATF.

While these bills are a long-shot with the current government in D.C., it is important to push your legislators on issues like the NFA because it sets the stage for long-term success. Please reach out to your specific federal legislators by using FPC's constituent outreach tool located on this page.  FPC has drafted a sample email for you to review, edit, and personalize prior to sending it off your legislators' inboxes.
