House Bill 2118 would overhaul Missouri’s self-defense laws and the legislation has already passed through the House Government Oversight Committee and the House Rules Committee, which means it’s ready for a vote in the full House.
This legislation provides criminal immunity to gun owners who use reasonable force in defending themselves. This would also offer a pre-trial hearing so you could assert your immunity BEFORE you go to court, not only during an appeal following a conviction.
It also covers ‘good faith’ shootings and modifies Missouri’s assault statutes to make it clear that displaying a firearm to stop a violent criminal is not a criminal action!
