Tell Congress to preserve access to COVID-19 vaccinations and fully fund HRSA’s programs for uninsured patients
Contact your elected officials to pass legislation fully funding HRSA’s COVID-19 Uninsured Program and Coverage Assistance Program before pharmacists are forced to reconsider staying in the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Program.
HRSA issued a notice that the COVID-19 Uninsured Program and the COVID-19 Coverage Assistance Funds have stopped accepting COVID-19 vaccination claims on April 5, 2022, due to a lack of sufficient funds. Consequently, after April 5, 2022, pharmacies and other health care practitioners no longer have a mechanism to file uninsured claims for administering COVID-19 vaccinations.
In response, CDC issued a statement regarding the current provider agreements that pharmacies/pharmacists and other vaccinators have signed stating that the COVID-19 vaccine be administered free of charge “regardless of the vaccine recipient’s ability to pay.” CDC’s statement “strongly encourages providers to stay in the CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Program and CDC expects participating providers will continue to administer these lifesaving vaccines at no cost to patients to ensure equitable access for all individuals.”
Congress must fully fund this program in order for pharmacists to continue to be accessible for administration of COVID-19 vaccines for patients who are uninsured or need coverage assistance.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Please use the tool on the right to contact Congress and tell them to compensate pharmacists for providing necessary services to our uninsured patients. Your participation helps advance pharmacy for the betterment of the profession, your patients, and your communities.
