Expand the Child Tax Credit (CTC)
In 2021 the CTC lifted more than 5 million people out of poverty, including nearly 3 million million children. Expanding the CTC now would help reach more children, including immigrant children, while promoting equity for communities that have long been marginalized.
Safeguard Medicaid
During the pandemic, Congress took action to expand health coverage at a time when we needed it the most. To protect this critical progress and the public health of all Americans, we urge Congress to prevent what will likely be catastrophic cuts in Medicaid that could cause 4.6 million Latinos to lose coverage. Congress must also act to provide full funding parity for Puerto Rico’s Medicaid program.
Provide Permanent Protection for DREAMers and Other Immigrants
Since 2012, hundreds of thousands of Dreamers have contributed to our nation’s prosperity through protections offered by DACA. Today, federal courts are threatening to eliminate DACA. Congress must enact immigration reforms that will place DACA holders and other immigrants with deep ties to the U.S. out of harm’s way and fully include them in the social and economic fabric of our country.
