Great news! The Montana legislature will hear the Convention of States legislation - SJ2 at 8:30am in the Business, Labor, and Economic Affairs Committee next Wednesday in room 422!
This is the first step in the legislative process of getting Montana on board with passing an application for an Article V convention for proposing amendments that would impose further limits on the size and power of the federal government and term limits on federal officials--including members of Congress.
If Montana passes the legislation, it would join 19 other states that have already passed it, like Florida, Texas, North Dakota, and Utah. Once 34 states apply, according to the Constitution, a convention shall be called.
Time is critical. Some legislators seem satisfied with the status quo and dysfunction we are witnessing in Washington, D.C. They are doing everything they can to stoke fears about using this constitutional provision to reform the mess. Your state legislators in Helena need to hear from immediately!
